To share or not to share…

We had our family portraits taken last week.  I LOVE them, even though my oldest was ill (and puked in the bushes during the shoot).  It’s candid and real and raw, and that’s what I love about it.  Don’t worry, the puke wasn’t documented.

I just can’t decide if I want to post them on my blog yet.  I usually keep them under lock and key for the big reveal when our card arrives in the mail to my beloved friends and family.  The element of surprise excites me, but I’m not even there to see that look on their faces, so why do I care?  Maybe because I am sentimental about still sending out real cards, and don’t want to ruin the fun with them seeing a digital copy first.

Funny enough, not too many of my beloveds check my business website regularly…so it wouldn’t ruin it by showing all of you….would it????  So raise your hand (or leave a comment) if you got my family card in the mail last year and you check my blog and reading this as I type.  Speak up now!

Still deciding…. here is another to share for now.  Oh, and I made that quilt specifically for this portrait session (with lots of help from my mom) and finished it the day before. I enjoy making quilts so much more than I thought I ever would with fabulous fabric around. I love to cuddle with my daughter, she is very affectionate.

Image taken by my dear friend, Heather Walker (I just had to watermark for safety precautions).

I have had a much needed lull with portrait sessions for others with Halloween last weekend and a big family event this weekend, I didn’t schedule anything, so I am finding myself on the couch with hubby flipping through the pottery barn magazine.  Ahhh, enjoyable.

Fine. One more by the excellent Tricia Dunlap (watermarked by me). LOVE the clutch of her little hand….and her pigtails are so pronounced against the trees in the distance.

 for now.

Kristen, I arrived to see your son puking in the field and you were cool as a cucumber. Most moms would have FREAKED OUT. You amaze me – all that you can accomplish in a day, how awesome your family is – how awesome you are! I love that you are okay not getting the “perfectly posed, everyone looking at the camera and smiling” photo – I love that you love the photos as your family was – THAT day. God Bless. xoxo
