‘Tis the Season for Giving

I was having a discussion with a few other photographers in various parts of the country about the economy. Some areas are hit harder than others. My photography business does not sustain our family, and I am grateful my husband has a job that isn’t affected by the economy right now. Even though Austin may not have been hit as hard as others, I know some people have been laid off and struggling. When I hear about tough times for people, I want to do something that will bring happiness in an otherwise difficult time. Immediately I think about portraits. I think to myself that although this family is having a hard time in many other aspects, I want to take pictures of them, of the love they have for each other, to hopefully lift their spirits, to remember that family is important and it is important to stick together. So I am asking for the help of my readers.

I would like you to nominate someone who you think could have their spirits lifted this holiday season by having their portraits taken. Submit a paragrah or two and tell me their situation and why they are deserving. Not only will I photograph a free session, but I will gift this deserving family my Classic Collection which is a $695 value. This collection has a 16×20 portrait as well as a Leather Album holding 20 5×7 prints. It also contains a full resolution disc of those 21 images selected.

Nominate a family by emailing me a short paragraph on why you think this family is deserving by December 1st at midnight. Loss of job, illness in the family, single mom trying to get by….I will have a panel of judges narrow it down to 3-5 entries. I will then post those entries on my blog for you to vote. You can notify them that you submitted their name, or you don’t have to (surprise them if they win/they will never know if they don’t). You can tell me their name, but when I post on my blog, the names will be anonymous.

The person nominated must be able to come to the North Austin area for their portraits to be taken. I am not scheduling sessions after the first week of December and can photograph the 2nd week (so they can have their gift in time for Christmas) or in January, just not over the holidays.

Now lets hear those stories! kristenATkristendukephotographyDOTcom (substitute the symbols where needed). I will send a THANK YOU email so you can know I got it.

What a nice and generous idea! True to those "Hill" roots! :)

  2. That is a lovely idea. I wish I knew more people in that area.
You have been one busy lady.
