Keeping Myself Strong

Breakfast. Gotta start my day with something, and this being the last tip I’m sharing as a part of the Kellogg’s Great Starts Tips, I’m sharing this super easy and quick breakfast, eating Smart Start cereal. It’s important to me to  stay physically fit as well as mentally fit.

Each morning, I have spiritual nourishment by studying on how to be a better person through a daily devotional in my scriptures. It gives me the mental energy to get through my day.  I love the crunch and texture of Smart Start cereal in a bowl, filled with fresh fruit, too.  I then cap my morning with a trip to the gym or at home workout. It’s important to take time for myself with 4 kids. I need this daily routine to stay strong!

Baked Corn Flake Chicken

I can’t even tell you how excited my kids were at the deliciousness of this meal! I’m always wanting kid-friendly and quick meals, and this fits into both categories. After my 13 year old (growing, eating me out of house and home) son took a bite of one piece of chicken, he hoarded 5 more pieces onto his plate to ensure he’d get enough.  With how active they are with sports and school and everything, I want to make sure they are eating right. Especially on game days, they need a good, hearty meal after exercising.   Baked Corn Flake Chicken I think I’ve shared before that my husband has been the soccer coach to both of my boys (on the same team). … Continue Reading

Mix It Up for an After School Snack

What do you think of when you hear the phrase, “cereal freestyle?”  To me, it says, “do whatever you want with the cereal, baby!” I thought I’d share a little tip for how to mix-it-up for after school snack’s, especially on the go. At our home, two days a week after school are pretty hectic, because I’m in my car driving my kids to piano and gymnastics. It’s a big pain. Especially because one of those days they get home, then we turn out the door again. I started packing snacks that were easy to take out the door, and I combined 3 of my favorite cereals to do that:

  • Kellogg’s Apple Jacks
  • Kellogg’s Fruit Loops
  • Kellogg’s Corn POPS

Seriously, my most FAVORITE cereal growing up was Kellogg’s Apple Jacks, and I love it just as much today! It brings my heart joy to see my kids loving it, too. I even told my 4 year old the other day as she was munching on Apple Jacks….”you know, when I was a kid, it was just little orange loops, now there is green and orange…” She didn’t have much to say about that, but it was fun to wax nostalgic for a brief moment.
