Christmas Banana Bread

This Christmas Banana Bread recipe can really be made all year, but I call it by this name because my friend Emily would make it and deliver it to us each year at Christmas time. The red maraschino cherries make it festive looking, and the secret ingredient: butterscotch chips, gives this bread a unique and unexpected twist. If you’re not allergic, don’t forget the pecans, because MMMmmm, Mmm, do they make it extra delicious. I’ll often double the batch, which bakes 3 medium bread pans or 6 small pans.

Christmas Banana Bread

This year, I found the cutest polka dot Christmas themed disposable bread loaf pans at Target, and baked the bread for my kids teachers. (Insert the genius idea behind cute disposable bread loaf pans). I wrapped the bread in cellophane and placed it in this mini chrome shopping cart from World Market.

My kids teachers LOVED their carts, and so did a bunch of their classmates–asking where I found it. Only $8, great deal! I’ve had my own cart for a year or two. In my day-before-scramble to think up teacher gifts, I ran to World Market and I thought, “Who wouldn’t love a mini cart?”
