Pictures around the Home

Hello Everyone! I am Jes from Mommy Envy and more recently from Jes Be Social.

I am in love with all things social media…It’s how I met Kristen!  I recently got to meet her in person and she is just as adorable in person as she is on her blog.

I am incredibly blessed to have the cutest boys in my life.  My husband, who I claim as one of my children, and our son.  We are also expecting and just found out it’s another boy! I thought my life was messy now!  I absolutely love taking pictures of my family but I am rarely in them and I hardly ever print them!  For my son’s first birthday I made it a point to hand over my camera.  It was hard! I didn’t have control of every shot and that worried me.  No really…it really worried me!  But after his birthday I was very happy I did.  I now have the awesome shot above of my kid eating his first birthday cake.  And I got to witness every moment of it from in front of the lens! I think this picture needs to be printed and put on my desk!

Recently I shared my Master Bedroom Reveal and Wish List!  Now most people will find pictures that match their current decor and color scheme.  I do things a little back words.  I’ve slowly started buying decor based on this picture below.  It’s a picture my mother-in-law took in Venice and I absolutely love every color in it! I am trying to find the perfect lamps to match the blue of the water!

My second point I want to make about this picture is…see how easy it is to give pictures as gifts? My mother-in-law framed this as our house warming gift and I knew it would be in our Master Bedroom the moment I saw it. Makes me want to let in the sun and read a good book!

Master Bedroom Reveal

I loved the post earlier in this series on using odd walls for mini galleries.  I admit I am not so good at gallery walls.  I try so hard to be asymmetrical but it always ends up lined up perfectly so I gave up and decided to use large prints instead.

Don’t forget about your hallway walls!  Don’t you want to just tickle those little toes?  My son’s newborn pictures are a touchy subject for me.  Everyone knows you must take those cute squishy pictures in the first two weeks.  And being a photographer myself I studied hard for the day I got to take these photos.  After my son was born we spent 3 weeks in the NICU and already being emotionally drained I couldn’t get over the fact that I wouldn’t have those squishy newborn photos of him.  I had my camera brought to me in the hospital but the wires kept getting in the way and I couldn’t handle it anymore.  Lesson learned…little ones can be a month old and still get awesome newborn pictures.

I think of how far he’s come from those first few weeks…shoot, how far I’ve come! I love seeing this picture every time I walk down the hall to my room.

Another favorite photo of mine is actually my favorite because of the frame.  My husband gave this to me when we got engaged…or for Christmas, it all happened on the same day.  You see, I find it hard to be a little reckless and go all in.  My husband on the other hand has no problem singing made up words while dancing with underwear on his head.  We even each other out very well and that’s what I thought of when he gave me this frame.

Maybe you don’t have a print to give someone but picture frames can be just as good.  I know I would love a picture frame as a gift! I don’t take the time to pick frames out…which is why my walls remain bare after living in our house for 2 years!

I’ve had such a great time reading all of the posts from the Decorating with Portraits series!  Come visit me at Mommy Envy for more DIY tutorials, recipes, and hopefully a good laugh! I try to be as motivating as possible or at least admit I let the jello hit the fan!

I also blog at Jes Be Social, a place for bloggers to learn what I know about social media.  If you have any social media questions send me a message!

Thank you, Jessica! I’m so glad you handed over your camera for your son’s birthday, you will treasure that shot of you two!
