My Saturday Night~Good Clean Fun

{some of my cute girls in front of the carnival rides, on the baseball field}

I had a rockin’ Saturday night hangin’ out with the girls from church.  They had a youth activity and I got to tag along !  In my church, we are asked at various time to serve in different capacities (a.k.a. callings)…some are more time consuming than others, and the time frame varies from 6 month to 2 years that we are in one calling.   I was asked a few months ago to be the teacher for the 14 & 15 year old girls at church, and must say that I leaped with excitement…I really LOVE serving the youth!  They are such good kids, striving to make good choices, and I just feel so blessed to be a part of that.  I teach them a lesson 3 Sundays out of the month and every Tuesday night we have an activity.  This Saturday event was a special activity with youth from our church for ALL over the Austin area at the home of a very generous individual in our church. I am the worst at approximating numbers, but it was well over 1000 kids roaming this (roughly) 5 acre property. The homeowners shared their pool, basketball court, baseball diamond, provided pizza, lots of cold beverages, and even rented 4 carnival rides!  All for free to the youth, to just provide a good wholesome environment on a Saturday night with other kids with similar standards.

Do you recognize this cutie gracing and posting my blog in the past?  I was just lovin’ her suit!

My friend and fellow youth leader, Katie (expecting #4).  We had to wear the orange bracelets so the youth boys wouldn’t get confused and want to hang out with us (you know, because we look 17).  All the kids wore green.

The port-a-poties were all the rage!  They are actually called Royal Restrooms, I looked them up, they can be rented.  VERY posh inside! A.C., doesn’t stink, music playing, fancy!

Some of my girls on the rides…I was, you know, doing my leader responsibilites, but I did just one ride (which is not pictured).  I had never seen it before, but it was like flying like superman.  It was fun!

I even took some stealthy pics of my friends’ boys playing ball to show that they were having a good time (which I texted to them;)  I know I’d want to see such things if my kids are enjoying themselves somewhere I am not. Below, with my phone. Cool courts with the basketball on them…

I know I’m their “leader” but they teach me more with their positivity, smiles, kindness, and continual hugs they offer me.  Even the adults can’t help but feel loved from that kind of light.

  6. amen to that, girl! I enjoy teaching those kids, as well – they are awesome and inspiring! fun to see pics of the activity I heard so much about – that is one impressive place!

  7. Wow! What an activity! What a generous individual. It’s awesome to see the kids having fun. Of course, I think it’s also important to let them know that you can have fun without a mansion with a pool and basketball courts. So few people really have access to that kind of thing.. But I guess that’s a lesson for another time, right?

    Glad you are enjoying your calling!

  8. you totally have a picture of my son on the basketball court…cool! what a beautiful place. wish i could have been there, although i am sure the my son was happy i wasn’t! i serve as the beehive advisor. so my girls weren’t there. looks like a ton of fun!
