Go vote…and my random thoughts from this week

If you haven’t already voted on the Best Images of 2011 contest below, please do! Even if you aren’t in them…or know anyone in them…it’s so fun for ME to see  YOUR favorites! (down 2 posts).

I have gotten much accomplished in my blogging break this week…besides my 2 big secret projects, I’ve done some light reading on other blogs while out and on my phone (I sorta love/hate that I can do that now).

I got caught up on the Nie Nie Dialogues and see that she is writing a book on her story. I already started reading the preview and I can’t wait to read the rest! I’ve been reading top ten posts of 2011 from lots of bloggers that I love, and found I missed so many fun posts this past year.  I love a good re-cap.  Also, blogs I had seen before, but hadn’t been back for months:  Oh Happy Day (a progressive dinner in Paris…yes, please!), The Nester, &  Miss Mustard Seed.  I got lost in blog land by following links and found some blogs I’d never seen before, then I somehow got a computer virus, but hubby was able to clear it out. He was supposed to have a surgery on Wednesday and my week planned around that, then we last minute found out he won’t get it til next month.  Although annoying, I’ve got extra time that I didn’t think I’d have to work on 2 said secret projects!  My goal is to share them with you by the end of January.  I’ve also been emailing lots of people for surprise #3 that will come in February. Are you on pins and needles yet? Also working on a baby shower fun for this Saturday, which I could include as surprise #4, that you will see next week. I also got a P.O. box…I’ve been wanting one for a while, and its really QUITE inexpensive!

I paid $30 for an entire year, and that’s not even the smallest size!  It’s mostly because I wanted a return address other than my home when I am shipping out my books. Feel free to send me fun things! I love to photograph and feature small businesses. Maybe double check with me first.  As I write all this out, it reminds me that my family proclaimed to me over the holidays that I’ve surely got ADHD, I need to do some research on that, but something about having so many things going on at once?  Hmmm, interesting.  I’ve always got random thoughts…so many things to share….but it seems when I share random thoughts on this here blog, I get crickets in return…which makes me think random thoughts are not enjoyed…are they? If you say yes…then I will share. I like to blog with authenticity, I want to share more of “me” not just what I do.

Ok, I shall leave you with one picture of my fam in jammies on Christmas #2:

The adults and the cousins.

Also, I’d LOVE to share more photography tips on the blog this year, what do you want to learn about?

  1. Hey Kristen, I am happy to be the first to comment. I have been checking up on your blog lately, and always LOVE your random thoughts. I think you are very inspirational and love to read what you have to say. Also I would LOVE to get more photography tips. Your book has been perfect, just what I need to increase my very basic understanding of photography. I am very interested in learning more, and wish I could come to one of your photography workshops. Miss you, dear friend!

  2. I have those same pants the ladies are all wearing! I LOVE them! :)

We found out that we won’t be leaving until mid-July, so there’s a glimmer of hope that I can make it to the Anchorage workshop. :)

  3. I always enjoy reading your blog – random thoughts or not and I’m looking forward to all of your surprises!

  4. LOVE the jammy pics! Reminds me of my family kind of. A tradition as long as I have a memory is that we all get jammies that we open up Christmas Eve and wear immediately through late into Christmas Day. Most of the time my Mom and her two sisters have matching jammies, Maggie and I have matching jammies (usually from Old Navy!), Matt and my brother have matching jammies, and now the twins get matching jammies. So fun! I love your random thoughts, please continue blogging them! By the way, I owe you pictures of how we decorated our house with your beautiful pictures you did for us. Still more to do, but I’ll snap some of what we have up so far so you can see :) :) Anytime someone comes over for the first time, we get compliments on them as soon as they’re noticed!

  5. Love your random thoughts. It always inspires me to write my random thoughts then I get lost in something else.

YES PLEASE on photo tips. thats what brought me to your blog in the first place and i have emailed all my friends about your e-book. i would love any and all tips on basic photoshop and lightroom tricks and also suggestions about lenses and what you use each lens for. i am in limbo with what lens to buy for what i do(just a hobbyist snapping any thing and everything i can, but mainly my two little boys and their friends).

  9. I would love more photography tips. What your favorite lens are and I’d also like to better understand metering – Center weighted metering, spot metering etc. I don’t get how to use that little button on my camera and which setting it should be on. Thanks!
