How amazing is Kristen Duke?  I’ve been a big fan of her photography for quite some time and was lucky enough to have her take my pictures last year during her visit to Utah….and she is AWESOME. She has a fabulous way of working with children, capturing true personalities, and is great with color and lighting. You can see what I mean in our photo session, HERE.
My kids LOVED her!
I’m so excited to be a part of her “decorating with portraits” series! Let me share my photo wall with you.
I had a dilemma. I had this huge tan wall that was long, skinny and blank….and BORING. It needed serious help.
Nate Berkus (who I think is the decorating King) said that every room should have a plant and a photo. I haven’t gotten to the plant bit yet, but I grabbed a few of my favorite frames and printed out some of our family pics and…

It’s the first thing people see when they enter my home and I really love how it turned out!

It brightens up the whole room, and now it’s my favorite wall in the house!
Thank you for having me Kristen!

Hooray!  I LOVE it, Kari!  It brings an especially large smile to my face because I was there that day and got to play with your adorably sweet children.  The frames you chose are gorgeous, and I love how you arranged them!  I can’t wait to photograph your family when I come to Utah again in a few months.  I don’t do plants either, sorry Nate, but I do agree on the picture part.  If you don’t know Kari from her blog, U-create, then come on out of that cave and head on over there.  Here is her facebook page, and follow her in  Pinterest, too.
This was a fantastic kick-off to our month long series.

  2. Kristen, I always love your decorating with potraits series. Thanks so much for having me…and I can’t wait to see you again soon!!

  3. Kari, you did such a FABULOUS job on that wall. It’s so beautiful!

  4. I was wondering where we can purchase frames similar to the ones she used. Thanks for this series!

  5. The frames are so fun, I love the blue beadboard. Nice job!

  6. Hey Sara, I actually received the white frames from a company called Shaped Expressions on Etsy (they come raw and I painted them white) and the bead board frames I purchased at a local store in Utah called Rod Works. I believe they have an online shop, too.
