Decorating with Portraits at I am Momma Hear me Roar

Hello!  I’m Cheri from I Am Momma Hear Me Roar.  This has been a really cool series and I’m excited to get to be a part of it.

Right now I’m pretty into gallery walls.  I love putting up photos and balancing them out with quotes and even objects that mean something special to me.  I like the idea of someone being able to see who we really are just by entering our home.  I love decorating with meaning and sentiment.  Here is a gallery wall I recently completed in our home.

The reason why I love to mix the photos and the objects is because I feel it gives them more meaning to me.  For example, at the bottom of the stairs here you’ll see some bike gears framed.  My husband had a bike accident a while back and those are the gears he can no longer use because they were damaged in the crash.  Seeing the framed gears and seeing our family picture makes me realize how grateful I am that he was okay.  It reminds me how precious life is.

As you can see, there are lots of colors and the photos are mixed in with quotes and other inspirational things.  (If you want to read more about what’s on this wall you can see a full post about it HERE.)

Here’s another wall I recently finished.  It’s in our master bedroom.  Once again, there are photos mixed with other objects.  (You can also read more about this wall HERE.)

Lastly, here’s a shelf in our family room.  There’s a family photo on it and also a picture of my husband’s grandfather on a bike.  Everything represents something…..even the little Wolverine figurine my son keeps putting up there :)  I think it’s his way of being represented.

Thanks for having me Kristen.
{Thank you, Cheri!  I love how you have arranged meaningful things around your portraits, and the bike gears with the accident reminder along with framed images is especially poignant (yikes, my hubby is a big cyclist). I also love the shelf with the “Be” sign, bike, and family portrait….and even your sons Wolverine;) I also like that you sneakily covered the temperature box with the leaf, amidst the 3D birdcage and vase.  Thank you for sharing how you decorate with portraits!}
