Decorating with Portraits and Becky Higgins

Displaying photographs – in our homes, or photo albums, or office cubicles, or anywhere … is a way to recognize our blessings.

Hi everyone. I’m Becky Higgins, and photographs are incredibly important to me – as they are to most of you. I spent a dozen years on the “creative” side of scrapbooking until I found myself caring less and less about the supplies, techniques, tools – and more about the photos + the stories.

This is what led to the development of Project Life, a back-to-basics approach to memory-keeping. I was trying to figure out a solution for my own problem, and now tens of thousands of people all over the world are using Project Life to simplify the process, eliminate the stress, and let go of the guilt. If you’re not familiar with Project Life, come have a look and see how easy it is to get started with this no-fuss, no cropping, no adhesive, method of memory-keeping.

As for photos that go on display outside of the books, I do love having photos – specifically family photos – all around our home. This invokes a feeling of togetherness, reminds us of our commitment to each other, increases our children’s self-worth, helps us focus on our blessings, and of course brings back fond memories that we love to remember.

You may notice I’m fond of linear arrangements and grids. For step-by-step tips on hanging a grid of frames with precision, check out THIS blog post. I also share my secret weapon for hanging frames on walls, regardless of the arrangement. And … today on my blog I’m sharing even more photo-display spots in our home than you see here. Come on over for a peek! And thank you Kristen, for inviting me to be a part of your fun + inspiring series this month!

Thank you, Becky! I love to see all of the different displays, and yours is no exception…love that yellow frame, love the ancestors with ties (especially the pic with her tongue sticking out).  I have been a big fan of Becky’s even before blogs were around–I followed her work through her Creating Keepsakes days, and still love to read about her upbeat perspective on life through her blog.  I am dipping my toes into Project Life for the first time, myself as well. I encourage you to “like” Becky on facebook, because she gives life inspiration regularly with her trademark statement, “Cultivate a good life by….” and shares a way for us to ponder how we can record or photograph regularly how we cultivate our lives.
