And the winner is….

I have been swamped, and decided to just post the winner on my blog. I am pleased with my judges selection, and can’t wait to meet this great family. Nominated by their friend (an Arizona photographer), Claire Waite. This is what Claire had to say:

Trials are just part of life. I believe what sets certain people apart from the rest is the way they handle the trials life has dealt them. I am fortunate enough to know a family whose lives have been turned upside, yet they never complain, they face each day with faith and a smile and I truly believe the world is a better place because they are in it.

Kim and Leslie are the proud parents of two little boys and have a darling little girl on the way. They use to live here in Arizona, just up the road from me but moved to Texas about 2 ½ years ago so Kim could attend grad school. Their oldest son Conner is about to turn 4 and their younger son Nikolas is just over 1 ½ old and has spent much of his life in and out of the hospital due to a chromosome deletion. He is currently on a waiting list for a kidney transplant and has various other medical conditions associated with the chromosome deletion.

Nikolas’s health has definitely taken a toll on their family, yet they are always upbeat and keep moving forward hoping and praying for the best, often while expecting or experiencing the worst. Due to many extended hospital stays, Leslie has had to take a lot of time off of work, and Kim had to drop a semester of school part way through. Conner has spent a lot of the past year and a half living at the Ronald McDonald house near the hospital, rather than in his own home, sleeping in his own bed. But they are a happy family who still find time to enjoy each other and the blessings in their lives.

I can think of no one more deserving of a family portrait session with you Kristen, because for the Beams, family is everything.

Kim and Leslie, please contact me so we can discuss our portrait session after the new year…and thank you, Claire, for entering your friends, from over in Arizona.

And just because I don’t enjoy a wordy post without a picture, here is just an image of myself and my baby yesterday. It snowed yesterday in Austin! It didn’t stick, but my big kids had fun playing. My mom took this picture of me taking pictures of them:)

I’ve got 4 sessions to post from the past week, will get them up soon, so stay tuned!!!
